Banffshire
Banffshire spans from the area around Tomintoul in the Cairngorms to Banff and Macduff on the Moray Firth. The Moray coastline has some fabulous beaches, dramatic cliffs and quaint and picturesque fishing villages, each with its own particular charm and character to explore. Inland there are fine heather moorlands which offer excellent walking and fishing.

Beautiful Countryside to Explore
Here you are very much on the Whisky Trail, starting with Glenlivet near Tomintoul and onwards past Ballindalloch, Glenfarclas and Glen Grant.
The lower reaches of the legendary salmon river, the Spey, run through the region as well as other well-known fishing rivers such as the Deveron. On the coast the little erstwhile fishing village are strung out like pearls. Many have sandy beaches, and, as this is reputedly the sunniest area in the Britain, there is every chance that you will be able to enjoy them to the full.
Boat trips are commonly available to view both the coastline and the teeming marine life in these waters, with everything from seals, dolphins and porpoises to the occasional minke whale.
For a touch of culture, Duff House at Banff is an outpost of the National Gallery of Scotland. For those who enjoy a round of golf, there is no lack of excellent links and inland courses to enjoy.

20-May-2024 | Carnish Cabin Flow FN3 (overall) | Everything went according to plan, with good communication from Unique Cottages. I've given them 4 stars for two reasons. Even though the site said the property was available, I then had to wait 24-48 hours to have the rental confirmed. Also, I didn't like that they took £100 deposit with our balance, weeks before our arrival, although it was refunded within a week of the end of our stay. I have not experienced either of these scenarios before and frequently rent properties all over the UK and abroad. |
